Easter

Spring Time

We love spring/summer at our house. It means a lot of park time, bike rides, hikes, camping, swimming and many other fun outdoor activities. Being a California girl, I love the warmer days and sun. The only thing I am missing is the beach but I get to go this summer.

Logan

I left to run errands and left Joseph in charge of making sure Logan worked on some homework. Avery ended up helping Logan read the directions. Logan is usually good after that to do his homework on his own but this time he wrote some silly sentences.

Logan was so excited to be picked as Epic Eagle (Student of the Month). He loves school and is very good at it, everything comes so easy for him. I was worried that we might have some behavior issues because he wasn't going to be pushed academically this year but he hasn't. Instead he has been a great helper in the classroom. His teacher puts him to work helping others with their work when he finishes his. A few weeks ago he came home and told me how they got to play with the parachute in gym but that he was bored so he thought about numbers while they played. He then asked me if  blank +blank - blank was blank. He was correct. I think our challenge with him will be helping him realize that when something doesn't come easy, we don't give up. We are hoping to teach him how to ride a bike this summer, this is something that didn't happen last summer because he didn't master it the first couple of times.

Avery Update

Avery earned another Merit Badge and is currently  finishing up 4 or 5 others. He enjoys scouts and the many camp outs they go on. This summer he is going to a youth scout training camp and scout camp.
Below is his science fair project. He decided not enter it in the official science fair because space was limited and he wanted others to have the opportunity. And I think he wanted to avoid having to sit through a long awards ceremony, he is a teen with better things to do.

He is changing in so many ways. His voice is getting deeper, he has grown a ton (only 3 more inches and he will be as tall as me), he loves his friends and would rather walk home with them no matter the weather, and he changes his mind depending on the day. For example, last year he wanted to be dropped off at school closer to when it started but this year he wants to go earlier to hang out with friends. Most days I have to take him on the later side but last week I was able to take him earlier one day. He had not planned on the earlier time and was a little disappointed when I told him we could go earlier. Anyhow, he has been a pretty chill teen and I think things will continue that way. He has always been our compliant child.

Skating

Aurora and I had the opportunity to attend Scott Hamilton's fundraising event (Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer) in Bountiful. It was a ton of fun and the hosting club put on a great show. You can read about Scott's time here.
Aurora also skated in the Spring show in March. She skated to The Hard-Knock Life from Annie. She was a cute little orphan.

A couple of her friends were able to come and skate after one of the nights.
