Avery is Twelve

Super Brothers!

It is crazy to think that Avery is already twelve, time has flown by. Avery is a good kid and he try's to do what he is suppose to do. However, he is definitely turning into a teenager with some attitude. It is so strange to get attitude from Avery because he has always been so easy and compliant. But we are very proud of the young man he is becoming and hope to survive the teenage years with him. We are also so proud that he got into the honors classes next year in Junior High.

Dentist

Aurora was a trooper last week at the dentist. She had to have  two of her baby teeth pulled to make room for two other teeth. We are in the process of getting her braces so the orthodontist recommend we have a couple teeth removed early since she won't loose them until she is eleven or twelve. The orthodontist will put braces on her front 4 teeth once the last grown up tooth comes in. He will also put in an expander to make room for her other teeth that we had pulled early.

Manti Trip

Last weekend Thomas and Brittany (my brother and his wife) invited us to come to their home in Manti. My mom came up from St. George as well. We had a nice short visit. The kids all enjoyed playing with their cousin Penelope and had fun playing at the water park. Aurora now enjoys going down water slides and spent most of her time doing that. We were able to introduce woof'ems to them also.

Camping Adventure

Last Sunday we left for Bear Lake to go camping. We had planned on staying until Wednesday but the wind and rain caused us to pack up at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. At about 12 a.m. it started raining which would not have been to bad but then the wind started blowing hard. It woke up Aurora and me. Joseph was in the van playing a video game waiting for the rain to stop so he could use the restroom and come to bed. But by 12:15 Aurora was getting really scared so I had her come by me. Just after she moved the tent started collapsing in on us so we woke up Logan and Avery so that we could go to the van for shelter. Anyhow, we made it home at about 4:30 and all went to bed. However, we did have a nice Sunday and Monday up at Bear Lake. Here are some of the pictures we took.

Avery and Aurora found a little BB on the ground and decided to play mini baseball. They set up rocks as the bases and used another rock as a bat.

We enjoyed a bike ride on Monday. Logan loves riding this attached bike with Joseph.

We stopped at a fun park on our bike ride and let the kids play for a while.

We played cards in the tent on Monday after dinner because it was windy outside. A little while latter the wind stopped.

Joe enjoying a cup of Joe. And me enjoying some cream with a shot of Joe.

Aurora's marshmallow looked like a pigs nose.

Ice Skating/Competition Day

Here is Aurora and her coach. Below is Aurora's competition number. She did a great job and placed 3rd. Aurora really enjoys having the ice to herself.

Aurora's starting pose.

Aurora's coach is doing an early morning group lesson with some of the skaters once a week. Aurora loves going to these group lessons. She likes that she gets to skate with some of the older girls/more advance skaters. Here are two short videos of the group lesson from this morning. They were having fun working on becoming stronger skaters.

My Little Run Away

A couple weeks ago Avery woke up and asked if he could have another pillow because his was too flat. I went into to Aurora's room and quickly took a pillow from her bed and gave it to Avery, she was asleep. The next morning she noticed that one of her pillows was missing.  Side note: (When I say one of her pillows, I should clarify that she has become the pillow thief in our house and that she has about eight pillows on her bed. Aurora has also declared all of our guest pillows hers.) The next morning she immediately came and found me because she wanted her pillow back. I explained to her that Avery was going to be using the pillow  from now on. She whined for a while and then seemed to get over it. The next day in the afternoon her whining started all over again so I re-explained that the pillow was now Avery's. Her whining continued and she started claiming that the pillow I gave to Avery was the very first pillow I gave her. I continued to stand my ground as she burst into tears. After 30 minutes of her crying she asked me where her suit case was because she was leaving. I told her it was in the closet and wished her well. She packed her suit case and left the house. Avery was a bit concerned but I knew her trip wouldn't last long. A few minutes later she returned. Then Aurora came into the kitchen to tell me sorry and that she missed me. I had Joseph snap a quick picture.

Splash Pad Fun

Aurora and Logan wanted to go the splash pad and wanted Avery to come but he said he was to big to play with all the little kids. The next day he did decide to go play with water toys outside. I guess he isn't to big yet.
